Go Green to get fit and fruity!
Date published: 02 February 2012
Sign up to the Chesham Green Gym and one day you will literally taste the fruits of your labours.
The Green Gym has been running for two years at Chesham Local Nature Reserve and many members say their stamina and general health has improved. They have also learned about conservation which they have put to good use by rebuilding walls, hedge-laying and wildflower planting.
Thanks to funding from Six Town Housing, Red Rose Forest and the BANG Project, the Green Gym will be planting a new community fruit orchard in the reserve, and in a few years residents can help themselves to pears, apples, and damsons.
To lend a hand planting the trees, come along to the Green Gym sessions on Sunday 12 and 19 February from 1.30pm to 4pm. Children can also take part if they are accompanied by a responsible adult.
* The Green Gym meets every Sunday from 1.30pm to 4pm, and the next meeting is on 4 February. Anyone who would like to join in and carry out woodland management will be very welcome.
