Bury College Performing Arts students appear at the Lowry

Bury College Performing Arts group Accentu8 represented Bury at the Lowry Theatre on Saturday 21st January 2012.
Bury College Dance Company, Accentu8 is a group of performers made up of Level 3 Performing Arts Dance and Musical Theatre students at Bury College. The group performed their choreographed piece ‘Signatures’ to a crowd of over 450 people at the prestigious Lowry venue as part of an afternoon of theatre and dance by North West performers to celebrate the work of director and choreographer Shaun Parker.
Melissa Titmass (17), a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts student at Bury College enjoyed performing at the Lowry. The former pupil of The Elton High School said, “It was a great experience performing in front of lots of people at a prestigious venue. Being part of the Accentu8 group has improved my skills and helped me learn dances quickly.”
Jools Beech, Assistant Curriculum Manager for Performing Arts and Music was delighted with the performance. Jools said, “It’s great to be able to offer Performing Arts students at Bury College the opportunity to improve their skills by performing in front of large numbers at venues such as the Lowry.
Accentu8 will also perform at the Holocaust Service at Radcliffe Civic Centre this week alongside first year HND Performing Arts students who are also performing their piece ‘Speak up, speak out’ at the event.
