Open day at Whitefield library & adult learning centre

As a thank you to customers for putting up with the inconvenience caused while refurbishment works was undertaken, staff at Whitfield library and adult learning centre are holding an open day with free events for anyone who attends.

The work involved improvements to the main extension as well as the Junior Library, and sees the building gain two new classrooms.

Library supervisor Janet Moores said; ldquo;We would like to welcome any new and existing customers to come and have a look at what’s on offer now we have the additional classrooms ndash; the Philips Room where we have classes on flower arranging, bird watching, learning Italian or French, reading and writing for pleasure, drawing and painting and the Pilkington Pottery Room where you can learn how to make pottery and ceramics from beginners to advanced techniques.  There are also many IT courses available in the IT Suite.”

The free sessions on Thursday include bird watching, digital photography, painting techniques, flower arranging and a chance to have a go at pottery in the new studio. There will be a special story-time session in the morning with some songs signed in British Sign Language .

 
Refreshments will also be available during the day.  In the evening staff are hosting a general quiz where everyone is welcome and the winning team will receive a fantastic prize.
