Mother Attacked while her Children Look on.

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 16 November 2007

A mother was mercilessly beaten by two men with baseball bats as her young children looked on.
At around 7.45pm on Wednesday 14 November 2007, the 34-year-old woman was at home on Polefield Circle, Prestwich, with her husband and two boys, aged nine and four.
There was a knock on the door and one of the children went to open it. There was no-one there, so the mother peered round the corner and was immediately confronted by two men wielding baseball bats.
They then hit her over the head and she fell to the floor. They continued to beat her over the head as the children looked on screaming.
They then abruptly stopped and ran off.

She suffered head injuries and a broken arm in the incident and was taken to North Manchester General Hospital where she received treatment. She has since been discharged.
The offenders are described as white, in their 20s and wearing dark clothing. One had a long face and a moustache or goatee beard while the other had a shaven head.

Detective Sergeant John Charlton of Bury CID said: quot; This was a sustained and brutal attack on a mother in front of her children.
These cold-hearted thugs must have seen the children cowering behind their mother, but their screams meant nothing to them."

"We now want to hear from anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the area or from anyone who might know they carried out this attack."

Anyone with information is asked to call Bury CID on 0161 856 8153 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
