Drums Roll for Employee Achievement Awards
Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 29 February 2008
Shortlisted candidates for this year's employee achievement awards have been named by Bury Council.
The ceremony will be held in Radcliffe Civic Suite in March 20 and will be hosted by former BBC TV reporter and presenter Martin Henfield. It aims to pay tribute to hard working council employees who have been nominated by residents and people living in Bury.
Shortlisted candidates in the individuals section include Leslie Cutts who spends her day supporting carers who look after people with life limiting and long term conditions. In nominating her the carer wrote; quot; The hard work and dedication Lesley Cutts has put in since she has been my carers officer has been a life saver for me. I don't think I would have got through this last year without her."
Also in the running for an award is Local Area Partnership manager Rose De, who always goes the extra mile to help local organisations in Whitefield get funding, organise activities and communicate with local people. Rose is joined by Openshaw Park gardener John Davidge who lives out his passion for plants by creating beautiful displays with home grown flowers which he donates to the park without charge. Such is his love for the job John always comes in early, often up to two hours before he is due to start so that he can pick up litter.
Top Teams named in Bury's shortlist include; Evening Supervisors Domicilary Care, Youth Offending Admin Team, Town Hall Reception Team and the Bury Smoke Free team.
Don't forget that the polls for the achievement awards are open all year long so you can nominate your local hero by going to www.bury.gov.uk or visiting any council building and picking up a leaflet.
