Over a hundred local school children were enchanted by interactive poetry sessions by professional poet, Craig Bradley at two libraries last week to promote the start of the National Year of Reading.

58 children from Sunny Bank Primary and Unsworth Primary School came to Unsworth Library with teachers and parents. Alison Davies from the libraries team was at the event and said: quot;Craig is a wonderful in-your-face performance poet and very loud!. The children had a brilliant time they were encouraged to think of everyday things like clouds, leeks, underpants and create repetitive rhythms and rhymes! They made up rhymes and created a lot of rhythm on the bongos, tambourines. The children had a ball I think they probably floated back to school from the library they were that pumped up on enthusiasm."

At the Prestwich Library event 50 Year 4 children came to see Craig from Our Lady of Grace RC School. Margaret Vince at Prestwich Library said: quot; The children never stopped laughing from the very start. They were immediately engaged and very inspired by the way Craig involved them in such a positive but highly entertaining way with his use of words. The teachers and helpers thought he was great."
