A dramatic car chase ended in a quiet Rossendale village as police swooped on suspected thieves, reports The Lancashire Telegraph.
Officers arrested four men following the pursuit which came to an end in Burnley Road, Edenfield.
Witnesses said as many as 14 police cars were in the village and shocked residents looked on as men were bundled into police vans shortly after 6am, (Wednesday 24 August).
A resident, who asked not to be named, said: “It was about six in the morning, so I was rudely awoken from my slumber.
"I’d never heard that many sirens and then within a fraction of a second I heard two loud bangs that sounded like gunshots but could have been tyres blowing out, I suppose.
“It was like a scene from a Hollywood movie.
“Police cars were coming from either side and were four abreast.
“At one point I counted 15 police cars.”
There was glass in the road following the incident, he said.
A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said the pursuit began at 5.50am in Radcliffe, near Bury, and officers followed a vehicle across the Lancashire border to Edenfield.
Four men were in custody on Wednesday night on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, she added.
