Packed agenda for Prestwich

Date published: 31 August 2010

Everything from trams to chemists, parks to police is coming up at Prestwich Local Area Partnership.

Residents are invited to attend and voice their views when the LAP next meets on (Thursday September 16).

Katy Hogan from the Forestry Commission will discuss plans for LIVIA and Waterdale Park, while Angela Hardman from Bury PCT will seek local views on pharmacy services needed for Prestwich. Feedback will be used to produce a strategy for Bury and plan future pharmacy services.

Mike Mabey, head of passenger services at Stagecoach Metrolink, will outline improvements to Metrolink stations which start in November. These will include Bowker Vale, Heaton Park, Prestwich and Besses stations. New lifts, CCTV and other measures are all designed to improve the safety and comfort of passengers.

There will also be updates from the police and fire services and a 30-minute open forum when the public can raise any issues or question members of the partnership.

The meeting is at Prestwich Arts College in Heys Road, Prestwich and starts at 6.30pm.
Councillor Vic D’Albert, chair of Prestwich LAP, said: “The agenda reflects issues raised by local organisations and residents. The development of LIVIA and Waterdale for community recreational use is a priority within our Local Community Plan.

“The planned improvements to the Bury Metrolink stations will encourage more people to use the trams. Safety on the trams has been raised by the partnership so I welcome the opportunity to discuss the planned improvements with a senior representative of Metrolink.

“Our meetings are public and I would encourage local groups and residents to attend.”
