Bury Chamber News
Date published: 26 August 2010
Bury has been an interesting place to be over the last month, with lots of activity taking place, especially now that The Rock is up and running and attracting more visitors to the town. There are opportunities for businesses to get involved in the projects coming to fruition in our borough and Bury Council’s ‘Chest’ portal is a good place to start. They have recently undertaken a market sounding exercise to determine the future strategy for the Radcliffe Civic Suite and views from the business community have been welcomed.
The next Quarterly Economic Survey will be launched by the Chamber on 18 August to gauge how businesses in the area are coping. The theme for this quarter is the Coalition Government so to register your views on how your business has been affected by the new Coalition Government, visit: www.surveymonkey.com/s/qes
The survey closes on 15 September and the views of the respondents will be used by the Chamber to help shape its lobbying focus over the next few months, so they really do count!
The last quarter’s results indicated that 87.5% of respondents in the manufacturing sector in our area felt that turnover over the next 12 months was likely to improve. They also felt that the price of raw materials was one of the factors forcing them to raise prices, however the majority of businesses were happy with the speed and quality of their broadband. So, a mixed, but useful, snapshot of how businesses fared over the first two quarters of the year.
The next Business Breakfast is taking place on Thursday 30 September at the Red Hall Hotel. As usual, there will be plenty of opportunities to network, generate new business leads and meet new contacts so book your place at: www.gmchamber.co.uk/events
We also want to hear about positive news stories from our members in the Bury area.
