Walk active comes to Prestwich
Date published: 27 July 2010
Taking exercise has never been easier thanks to a new publication called Bury Walk Active.
It lists 18 walks throughout the borough, mostly on roads and graded to suit all ages and abilities. No special equipment is needed, just sensible footwear and a bottle of water.
The booklet contains three walks in Prestwich ranging from one to three miles. Residents have the opportunity to try these out with a guided walk on Monday August 9 - meet at 11am at Prestwich Library.
Becky Earl from Bury Council’s sports development team will be leading the walk, and said: “Walking is a great way to get to know your area and make new friends as well as getting some exercise and feeling fitter.”
Councillor Vic D’Albert, chairperson of Prestwich Local Area Partnership, said: “Local walks on your doorstep which cut out the need for bus or car travel are a great idea. The booklet contains simple clear information so you do not need to be a map reader to try out and enjoy the walks.”
Free copies of Bury Walk Active will be available at the walk and from Prestwich Library afterwards.
