Miller helps children stay safe

Miller Homes has started work on building new apartment homes at The Rock, the new £340m retail, leisure and residential development in Bury town centre. With building work now underway, Miller Homes took its Health and Safety Roadshow to the Holy Trinity Primary School on Cecil Street. The school is approximately 400m from the development so Miller Homes was keen to inform children about the dangers of playing near building sites.
Children at the school got to try on safety wear and protective clothing so they could understand that if grow-ups need so much protection to work on a building site then it is definitely not a place for children to go and play.
Frank Boydell, Health, Safety and Environment Manager at Miller Homes, told the children about the dangers of playing near building sites and why it is unsafe to go there. He was ably assisted by Haidar Ahmed from Year 2 and Libibah Naeem from Year 1. Frank also showed the children a DVD produced by the Health and Safety Executive, which shows the dangers children face when they decide to use a building site as a play area.
Head teacher, Mr Paine, says: “This is an excellent initiative, as children get to learn about the dangers of building sites in a fun and informative way, which they are sure to remember. With the summer holidays fast approaching, it was a well timed message.”
