Party on down to a family festival
Date published: 26 July 2010
A feast of food, sport and family fun awaits visitors to this year’s Party in the Park.
A packed day of activities has been planned for the annual party, which is on Sunday August 8 in Openshaw Park, off Rochdale Road, Bury.
The day brings together people from all walks of life in East Bury, including community organisations, churches and faith groups.
The army, police, fire service and road safety unit will be holding demos and activities, and there’s face painting, henna painting and small rides for children.
Hungry residents can tuck into a wide range of food, from Asian and Polish cuisine to burgers and traditional cakes and ice cream.
The entertainment includes a samba band and a variety of music including a disco.
And to keep fit, you can take part in circus skills, a climbing wall, paint ball event, a penalty shootout and a mobile gym.
The health service, local children’s centres, and council teams such as sports development, rangers, youth services and environmental health will be giving advice about everything from recycling to childcare.
Councillor Dot Cassidy, chair of Bury East Local Area Partnership, said: “Party in the Park is one of the biggest events of the year, and a great day out for all the family. I wouldn’t miss it for anything – come on down and join the fun!”
The party runs from 12pm to 4pm. For more details call Kim Griffiths, LAP manager, on 0161 253 6349.
