Team Ramsbottom ride for Ryder
Date published: 23 July 2010
Staff from Ramsbottom Pool & Fitness Centre have been raising vital funds for the local Sue Ryder charity shop.
They volunteered their services to help complete the Ride for Ryder summer challenge, using a cycling machine in the Ramsbottom shop.
Taking it in turns, the leisure staff and shop workers racked up the 150 miles from Ramsbottom to Boston, and raised £276.44.
They also gave out advice to visitors about health and fitness and the facilities on offer at the council’s leisure centres, while encouraging people to be more active and do the recommended five 30-minute exercise sessions a week.
Sue Ryder provides care and support for people with end-of-life and long- term health conditions. “Ride for Ryder” is its summer activity fundraising campaign.
