Review for Radcliffe Civic
Date published: 28 June 2010
Bury Council is looking at new ways to bring in funding and ensure the long-term success of Radcliffe Civic Suite.
It is inviting individuals and organisations with experience or an interest in managing community venues to contribute to a market sounding exercise.
The council’s aim is to provide a venue that is available for a wide range of community events, ensure there is a continuation of general community use, and secure investment to make sure the venue enjoys a long-term future.
Councillor Bob Bibby, leader of Bury Council, said: “An extensive review of the borough’s civic halls was carried out earlier this year.
“The council agreed that the best option for Radcliffe Civic Suite was to look at external management of the venue. We are now carrying out a “market sounding” exercise to assess alternative operating models, in line with my principles for improvements in Radcliffe.
“The venue needs investment and needs to attract more people to use it. I am confident that interested parties will come forward with proposals and ensure that Radcliffe Civic Suite has a bright future. Any proposals will include an agreed level of guaranteed community use.”
