New Chairman for Whitefield and Unsworth LAP

Cllr Joan Grimshaw, of Heathfield Road, Whitefield, is the new chairman of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership (LAP), which next meets on Monday.

Cllr Grimshaw, a Labour representative, was nominated for the role after Labour made gains at last month’s local elections, and replaces outgoing chairman, Cllr Michelle Wiseman.

Monday’s meeting is at Elms Community Centre in Green Lane, Whitefield, and starts at 6.30pm.

The LAP is made up of councillors, religious leaders, Bury Council representatives and other community officials in a bid to solve problems in the area.

At each meeting, residents and traders can air their views on local issues in a half-hour open forum and service providers can inform them of new developments, such as health centres and childcare facilities.
