Families invited to Baby Memorial Service at Fairfield General Hospital

Date published: 24 May 2010

Families who have lost a baby through stillbirth or shortly after birth are being invited to a special service of remembrance at the Fairfield General Hospital in Bury.

The service will be held at The Broad Oak Suite, which can be accessed via the staff restaurant, on Thursday 10 June at 7.00pm.

The Baby Memorial Service which lasts for 45 minutes, will offer a chance to reflect on their loss and will provide an opportunity to remember all the babies by name who have died.

Rev John Hall, chaplaincy co-ordinator at Pennine Acute Trust, said: “Within society today, stillbirth and neo-natal deaths are certainly still very much sensitive subjects. The remembrance service will offer families a chance to come together and remember their babies in a sympathetic and understanding environment. Everyone is welcome to attend and people can light a candle in remembrance of the baby they have lost. Many people who have attended previous services have certainly felt that they have had a sense of assuagement from the event.”

Anyone who would like further details on the memorial service should contact Rev Sue Ward on 0161 778 3568.
