Man arrested following injured officer appeal

A man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance during the Manchester derby that resulted in a police officer being blinded in one eye.
At the end of the match between MCFC and MUFC at Eastlands on Saturday 17 April 2010, the officer, aged 24, was outside gate seven on Ashton New Road dealing with a disturbance between opposing fans.
As the fans left the stadium something was thrown at the officer, hitting him in the eye.
Following a media appeal to trace a man police wanted to speak to a 23-year-old man handed himself to police on Wednesday 12 April 2010.
He was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and Section 20 Assault and has been bailed until 12 June 2010 pending further inquiries.
