Nominate your local sporting hero
Date published: 18 March 2010
Nominations are now open to reward local people who make an outstanding contribution to sport.
Bury Council’s sports development team, in partnership with Radcliffe and Bury South Sports Forum, is hosting the annual Bury Sports Awards on September 24 at Radcliffe Civic Suite.
The awards night will celebrate sporting achievements over the last 12 months, and include guest speakers, entertainment and a three-course meal.
There are six categories which individuals or clubs can be nominated in, and the winner of each category will then represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards. The categories are: Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Volunteer in Sport of the Year, Unsung Hero in Sport Award, Sports Achiever of the Year, and Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year.
There will also be five special recognition awards: the Young Leader Award, Prestwich Special Recognition Award, Radcliffe Special Recognition Award, Primary School Recognition Award, and the Secondary School Special Recognition Award.
The deadline for nominations is June 11. Nomination forms can be obtained from the Castle Leisure Centre in Bury: alternatively, you can nominate online at http://www.greatersport.co.uk/whats-on/welcome-to-the-sports-awards/gm-sports-awards-2009-10
