Aerobathon heroes help NSPCC

Date published: 07 March 2010

Bury residents turned out in force to make the NSPCC 2010 Aerobathon a huge success.

Around 150 enthusiastic people took part in the sponsored two-hour aerobic workout to raise essential funds for the NSPCC’s Child’s Voice Appeal.

This was the best attended event in the North West and so far more than £1,000 of sponsorship has been collected, with more on the way. The money will help the NSPCC expand its helpline for adults concerned about a child, and its ChildLine service.

The event was led by qualified instructors, organised by Bury Council and held at the Castle Leisure Centre in Bury.

Councillor Beverly Sullivan, executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “More than 150 leisure centres across the UK took part simultaneously in this national event and it’s great that local people really got behind it. Well done to everyone that took part and sponsored the participants. The money raised will really help make a difference to children’s lives.”
