Vote now for your favourite green flag park

Date published: 27 February 2010

Organisers of the Green Flag Award have launched a competition to find the public’s favourite Green Flag park.

The park or green space that receives the most votes by the end of September will receive a special People’s Choice Award at the Green Flag annual awards ceremony in autumn 2010.

Neil Long, assistant director of leisure services at Bury Council, said: “Bury’s parks are in competition with more than 1,000 others around the country for this award. The public vote offers residents a great opportunity to show their appreciation of Bury’s award-winning parks and to give their favourite a chance to lead the way.”

To place their vote residents should log on to www.greenflagaward.org.uk

Bury currently has 11 Green Flag Award parks, which are:

  • Clarence Park in Bury East
  • Openshaw Park in Bury East
  • Manchester Road Park in Bury East
  • Burrs Country Park in Bury West
  • Whitehead Park in Bury West
  • Close Park in Radcliffe

  • St Mary's Park in Prestwich
  • Whitefield Park in Whitefield and Unsworth
  • Nuttall Park in Ramsbottom, Tottington and North Manor

The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces in England, Wales and Scotland and recognises the best green spaces in the country.

Keep Britain Tidy runs the Green Flag Award in partnership with BTCV and GreenSpace.
