Talented Art students were chosen to produce unique gifts from recycled materials for Chinese visitors to Bury College.
Erin Barr, aged 19 of Somerton Road, Breightmet, Bolton, and a former pupil of St Catherine’s Academy Bolton, designed and created ceramics from recycled clay and glass as gifts for an educational delegation from Datong who visited the college recently. Erin is currently studying a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Bury College, having already taken her BTEC National Certificate in Art and Design.
Erin is aiming high for the future and commented, “I hope to go to University to undertake a course in Three Dimensional Design, and from there I’d like to go on to teach, as well as hopefully having a small business where I can pursue personal work.”
Charnelle Wild, aged 18 who lives in Newhey, Rochdale, and is a former pupil of Oldham Sixth Form College, is studying a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at Bury College. Charnelle produced presentation artwork for the gifts created by Erin creating her ceramics.
Charnelle said,” I would like to go to University to study Graphic Design, and eventually have a job designing posters and merchandise for bands. I love the Foundation course. When I began, I knew I wanted to do an Art subject at University but was unsure which area to study. Bury College has helped me to choose the pathway that’s right for me.”
Tutor David Partington says, “I’m immensely proud of the girls’ creative achievements. Producing gifts for such prestigious visitors will be great for their art portfolios.”
