Waste collections back to normal

Date published: 20 January 2010

Bury Council is making regular waste collections again following disruption caused to the service during the prolonged severe weather conditions.

Collection crews are aiming to reach all households on their usual collection day. They will collect the grey bins, blue bins and green bags. They will also take extra bags of rubbish.

Brown bin collections are currently suspended in order to concentrate on clearing the backlog of household waste and other types of recycling.

Glenn Stuart, head of waste management, said: “Our crews are aiming to get to people’s properties on the scheduled day but where this isn’t possible we will do our very best to return the following day. Residents need to be aware that collections may be earlier or later in the day as we catch up with the backlog.

"Our crews have been doing a sterling job in atrocious conditions and deserve our thanks.”
