An afternoon meeting for Whitefield Local Area Partnership

Whitefield & Unsworth Local Area Partnership’s next meeting will take place on Wednesday 18 November 1pm, at Elms Community Centre, Green Lane, Whitefield. .

The meeting is taking place in the afternoon after feedback suggested that an earlier time was more suitable for elderly residents as the nights draw in.

Top of the agenda is the Local Development Framework, a key planning document, which sets out the future planning policies for Whitefield & Unsworth. Representatives from the Planning Department at Bury Council will explain the likely impact of the proposals and members of the Partnership and public will be able to put forward their comments and suggestions.

Groundwork Bury has recently secured funding for a new Clean, Green Team Initiative and representatives from Groundwork will provide more information about how the LAP and community groups can get involved. The Partnership will consider a grant application to support the Love Whitefield Anti-Litter Campaign.

Other items on the agenda include a report from the Highways Department at Bury Council on the Gritting Review and explaining how the Winter Maintenance programme will operate.

There will also be 30 minutes of Public Question Time when members of the public can raise any issue.

Councillor Michelle Wiseman, Chairperson of the Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership, said: “Residents raised particular issues regarding winter gritting so I am pleased that Highway Network Services will be reporting back on the revised gritting policy. LAP meetings are public and anyone who lives, works or has any interest in Whitefield and Unsworth is welcome to attend”.
