Transport bosses urge passengers to have their say at Bury Interchange

Date published: 17 June 2009

People in Bury are invited to a face-to-face chat with the managers responsible for running their public transport services next week.

Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) is hosting a transport drop-in session at Bury Interchange outside the Travelshop on Thursday 25 June from 8am to 10am.

Representatives from bus operator First Manchester and Stagecoach Metrolink will be attending, along with Bury Interchange management and officers from GMPTE.

Opinions are invited about local bus and tram services as well as comments on stops and stations and public transport information.

Anyone who wants to share a public transport experience – or who has a suggestion for improvements they would like to see – is encouraged to attend.

Michael Renshaw, Interim Bus and Rail Director for GMPTE, said: “At the moment there is a lot of work underway to improve local public transport services, particularly Metrolink.

“Listening to what the public have to say about services and facilities is always important and especially so at the moment.

“We want to hear from as many people in Bury as we can about their experiences of using public transport and what improvements they think we can make.”

Passengers can buy a range of tickets and pick up free leaflets, maps and timetables at Bury Interchange’s Travelshop, which is open from 7am to 5.30pm between Monday and Friday and 8am to 5.30pm on Saturday.

GMPTE’s Travelshop staff are also trained to offer independent advice to help passengers plan their journeys.
General information about public transport services across Greater Manchester is also available by logging onto www.gmpte.com or by calling Traveline on 0870 608 2 608. Lines are open from 7am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and from 8am to 8pm at weekends and on Bank Holidays. Textphone users should ring 0870 241 2216.
