Bury is Working Together to make Bury a better place for local charities
Date published: 29 April 2009
Bury is re-launching a voluntary agreement that sets out how local public and third sector partners such as The Citizens Advice Bureau, local tenants and residents associations and charities will work together.
The agreement is currently running under the name ‘Bury Compact’ but in order that people better understand it what it is all about has been re named ‘Working Together’.
One example of where this agreement is already working is a joint project run between the Mosses Community Association and Bury Youth Service. The project provides a junior club for 8-12’s and a youth club once a week. The Mosses provides the building and volunteer support and the Youth Service provides a paid member of staff.
The purposes of the ‘Working Together’ agreement include promoting understanding between local organisations and setting standards for communication, consultation and support between these organisations. This will provide services that are better co-ordinated, better value for money and gives local people a say in what service are available.
The re-launch of the Working Together agreement will take place at the annual Community Conference on 9 July in the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall.
A council spokesperson said, said: “This re launch will provide a great opportunity for local organisations to come along and find out more about what the Working Together project can offer them”.
