Bury Market short listed for 2009 UK Coach Award
Date published: 20 March 2009
Award winning Bury Market has been short listed for yet another accolade after receiving a nomination for the UK Coach Awards.
The UK Coach Awards are organised by the coach industry to recognise those tourist destinations that show good practice towards coach operators and travel organisations.
Last year Bury Market received over 1000 coaches full of visitors to the award winning market and Mill Gate shopping centre. These numbers are set to increase due to the fact Bury Market was voted ‘best food market’ at the Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards, which are described by Jamie Oliver as the Oscars of the food world and in January the market was also awarded NAMBA Market of the Year.
Councillor Gunther, Executive Member for Environment, said: “This latest nomination for a nationally recognised award proves that Bury really is one of the premier retail towns in the North West which is welcoming to all its visitors”.
