Council introduces new telephone numbers for council tax enquiries
Date published: 25 February 2009
Bury Council has introduced a new number for individuals to ring about Council Tax enquiries. The number has changed from 0161 253 5095 to 0161 253 5656 with immediate effect.
This service has been allocated a more memorable number after customer feedback requested the introduction of so called ‘golden numbers’, which are easier to remember.
Any callers who dial the old ‘5095’ number will be greeted with a message informing them of our new number and that their call will be diverted. This will initially ensure that customers have time to get used to the new number and that calls are not disrupted.
Councillor Peter Redstone, Executive Member for Resource, said: “As the Council will be issuing over 80,000 Council Tax bills and leaflets shortly for 2009/10 it was considered a prime time to inform all customers of this change and provide them with an easily memorable number to enable them to dial direct to the Council Tax Offices. This should help avoid customers having to contact the offices via the Council switchboard and therefore improve Customer service standard”.
