Bury Library Service recognised for excellent customer service standards

Date published: 02 February 2009

Bury Arts, Libraries and Adult Learning Service has been accredited with the Government recognised ‘Customer Service and Excellence Award’.

To be given this award the service had to undergo a rigorous assessment and inspection process over a three day period as well as submit written evidence to be assessed.

The assessor from SGS, the company which undertakes the assessments on behalf of the Government, commented on the deep understanding staff had to customer service and the successful integration of the Adult Learning Service with the Library Service. The assessor also noted that having Council Information Points in a number of local libraries was a great way of assisting the public access local council services.

Councillor Creswell, Executive Member for Community Relations and User Focus, said: “I am delighted that the Arts, Libraries and Adult Learning Service has achieved this important award. It demonstrates the high standard of service and the commitment from council staff to ensure that the customer service is always at the heart of our work”.
