Musical Launch for the new exhibition at Prestwich Heritage Museum

A musical launch of the third major exhibition to be held at Prestwich Heritage Museum will take place at 2pm on Tuesday 27 January.

The new exhibition, Prestwich at Prayer, celebrates the diverse religious groups and places of worship, which have made up Prestwich’s local community over the years.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Peter Ashworth, will be attending the opening at 2pm and an invited audience will then be entertained by the choir from St Mary’s C of E Primary School. The Mayor of Bury and guests will then view the new exhibition.

The Heritage Museum was created at Prestwich library thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a partnership with Prestwich Heritage Society, Bury Library Service and Bury Art Gallery and Museum.

Councillor Yvonne Creswell, Executive Member for Community Relations and User Focus, said: “This new exhibition will provide an insight into the different religious communities which make up Prestwich both past and present. It will allow local people to find out more about their community’s heritage and I hope that it proves to be as popular as past exhibitions at the museum”.
