Date published: 20 January 2009
Young people aged between 11 and 18 in Bury have the opportunity to get involved and stand as a Youth MP, or find out more about how to vote in the Youth elections, at a special Election Information Day on Saturday 31 January.
The event will take place between 11am and 3pm at the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall. The event will allow young people to find out more about UKYP, the national organisation which represents Youth MP’s and campaigns on a number of issues to make a positive change for young people in society.
Bury has one Member of Youth Parliament and two Deputy Members of Youth Parliament who are elected by the young people in Bury to represent them at North West regional meetings and nationally at the annual UK Youth Parliament.
The Information Day will also provide information about how young people can join local youth democracy groups, youth action groups and Bury’s Youth Cabinet.
For further information about the event please contact Heather Cooper, Youth Participation Worker on 0161 253 7165.
