Praise an Unsung Hero at this years Annual Bury Sports Awards
Date published: 15 December 2008
One of the awards up for grabs at this year’s Sports Awards is the Unsung Hero award for someone who has made an impact over a number of years on people, a club or within a local community.
The sports awards are organised by Bury Sports Development in partnership with Radcliffe and Bury South Sports Forum and they take place on Friday 6 February 2009 at Bury Town Hall.
The evening provides an opportunity for members of the community to gain recognition and reward for their outstanding contribution to sport in Bury. The awards are also designed to celebrate and highlight individual sporting achievements over the last twelve months.
Over the last few years the evening has grown in stature and this year it will be no different. This Year the evening will include; guest speakers, presentation of the awards, a 3 course meal and a disco. Tickets will cost £15 per person.
There are six categories in total, with the winners of each category going forward to represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards. This year the Local Area Partnerships are pleased to sponsor the Unsung Hero Award. Each of the six Local Area Partnerships will nominate an unsung hero from their area who will then go forward for the Borough wide award and will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the evening.
If you would like to nominate someone for the Unsung Hero Award, or any of the other awards, please contact Andrea Pilling in Sports Development on 0161 253 6463 or by email at A.Pilling@bury.gov.uk.
