Nominations open for Annual Bury Sports Awards

Nominations for the Bury Sports Awards are now open.
There are six categories which individuals or clubs can be entered for through the nomination process:
Coach of the Year – A community, club or school based coach who has made a significant impact to the development of performers in their sport
Club of the Year – A sports club which has made a significant impact or contribution to the development of the sport in the community
Volunteer in Sport of the Year – A person who has volunteered their time and made a significant impact to the development of performers, club, community or school
The Unsung Hero in Sport Award – A person who has made an impact over a number of years on people, club, school or within the community
Sports Achiever of the Year – A sports performer who has made significant improvement in their development as a player/athlete
Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year – A person who has made a significant contribution or improvement in their development as a disabled sports player/athlete
Bury Sports Development, in partnership with Bury and Radcliffe Sports Forum, are hosting the Annual Bury Sports Awards which will take place on Friday 6 February 2009 at Bury Town Hall.
The evening has grown in stature and is one of the most prestigious events in Bury. The format of the evening includes guest speakers, presentation of the awards and a 3 course meal. The winners of each category going forward to represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.
Councillor Beverly Sullivan, Executive Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “The evening provides an opportunity for members of the community to gain recognition and reward for their outstanding contribution to sport in Bury. The awards are also designed to celebrate and highlight individual sporting achievements over the last twelve months”.
