Things are getting spooky over at Burrs Country Park
Date published: 20 October 2008
Abandon all hope ye who enter Burrs Country Park on Friday 31st October. For only the fearless families of Manchester shall cross its boundaries on that night… all to raise money for Henshaws Society for Blind People.
The Manchester charity is looking for more daring mums, dads and kids to brave its annual Halloween Walk in the park - promising a frightfully fantastic family night in return.
Henshaws has teamed up with Bury Council’s Parks and Countryside Service to organise this special one off event. Captivating characters from the past will take you on a torch-lit journey through the shadows of the park, telling spooky tales from the olden days. With gruesome goodies for every participant dressed for the occasion, the night is set to be a real spine tingler!
However, Henshaws can’t predict exactly who or what might ‘crop up’ on the night, so as there’s safety in numbers, there’ll be around 30 walkers in each group. And they’ve hired the park security, just in case...
The evening is scarily cheap: just £2 for children and £1 for adults, and £1.50 for a hot soup supper. And anyone raising over £5 in sponsorship will be entered into a prize draw packed with treasures, including signed Manchester United merchandise.
Call Henshaws’ Community Fundraiser, James Lester on 0161 872 1234 to book your time allocated place on the walk. But do beware… spaces get snapped up quick – we suggest you book soon to avoid disappointment.
