Top Chef cooks up some treats as part of Bury Food and Drink Festival.
Date published: 08 October 2008
Last Saturday, 4 October, shoppers and visitors to Bury got some expert cooking advice from top chef Philippa James, Lancashire Life’s cookery editor, as she demonstrated some of her favourite recipes in Millgate Square in the town centre.
The event, part of the third annual Bury Food and Drink Festival, saw Philippa creating some delicious dishes using fresh produce from Bury Market. People queued up to try Lancashire Tortilla, Veggie Black Pudding Bake and a whole section of salmon dishes.
Stuart Rothwell, from the Vineyard Wineshop in Ramsbottom, was also on hand to advise on wines to go with each dish.
If you missed Saturday’s event then you can still catch Star Fish Kitchens on the 11 October who will again be in Bury town centre demonstrating their winter warmer recipes.
Other events about the festival, which runs until 12 October, can be found in the festival brochure available from Bury Tourist Information Centre, or by visiting www.buryfoodanddrinkfestival.com
