Bury youngsters tackle local police

Date published: 07 October 2008

Police in Bury are organising a penalty shoot-out this Sunday 12 October and are inviting youngsters to come along to net themselves one of the prizes on offer.

The penalty shoot-out will take place at Manchester Road Park, Bury from 1.45pm and has been organised by local PCSOs Andrew Bigland and Michelle Farmer, Bury FC in the Community, Bury East Sports Association and Bury Council.

Children of all ages are invited to take part for the opportunity to score one of a number of prizes, including match tickets for Bury FC, a signed Bury FC football and football shirts sponsored by BESA. Medals will be awarded to the day’s top scorers and free refreshments will be provided throughout the competition, courtesy of Asda.

PCSO Andrew Bigland said: “This is the second annual penalty shoot-out that we have set up, as the event is a great way to bring pupils from different schools and areas together.

“The event is free of charge and Bury FC in the Community will be offering football training skills and taking part in the shoot out, along with officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team. This was extremely popular last year and we are hoping even more youngsters and budding footballers will attend this weekend.”

For further information on the penalty shoot-out at Manchester Road Park from 2pm to 5pm this Sunday, please contact the Bury East Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 8127.
