Back to business for Whitefield and Unsworth Area Partnership after summer break
Date published: 10 September 2008
Whitefield & Unsworth Local Area Partnership first meeting after summer recess takes place on Monday 15 September at 6.30pm at Elms Community Centre.
Items up for discussion include The Phillips Park lottery bid, local community grant applications and the Local Community Plan.
The lottery grant to help fund the regeneration of Phillips Park is being resubmitted. The LAP is asking members of the local community to provide old pictures of the park, give their views on the park’s local importance and put forward ideas for the future use of the park. All of these ideas can then be included as supporting information for the application for lottery funding.
Community groups will also be hoping their grant applications are approved. Unsworth Junior Football Club have requested funding for kits for their new Under 7’s team; Elms Young at Heart Club hope to obtain funding for a new cooker and dishwasher for their luncheon club and the Area Tasking Team hope to purchase graffiti cleaning kits for use at community clean up events with their grant.
The Police and Fire Service will provide updates and the Whitefield Area Youth Manager will highlight how the Local Community Plan will address youth issues over the next three years.
The meeting will also include 30 minutes of public question time where residents can ask questions or raise issues of concern.
Councillor Michelle Wiseman, Chair of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership, said, “The LAP has done some really important work with the local community over the summer. The lottery bid to support the regeneration of Phillips Park is a key issue up for discussion. I look forward to hearing the local communities’ views on this and other issues at the forthcoming meeting”.
