Prestwich LAP provides help to rid Prestwich streets of Graffiti
Date published: 12 August 2008
Help is at hand for local residents affected by graffiti as free graffiti cleaning kits are now available for local residents, businesses and groups in Prestwich.
As part of the Love Prestwich Litter Campaign and in response to feedback from residents and businesses who feel they are persistent victims of this mindless act the LAP has funded 80 graffiti cleaning kits.
The kits contain different strength solutions, cleaning pads, safety gloves and instructions will allow residents to clean up graffiti near their homes and premises.
The scheme has already been successful as the Friends of Prestwich Clough already have ten kits and will be busy cleaning off graffiti over the summer.
Local Publican Tom Gribben of The Church Inn, Church Lane, Prestwich, is storing the kits so people can pop in to pick up theirs. Tom said “I’m involved with Prestwich Heritage Society and other local groups. If we can all do a little to clean up this mess then that’s a step in the right direction”.
Carran O’ Grady, Local Area Partnership Manager for Prestwich said: “We hope that local residents will use the kits and get together with friends, relatives and neighbours to help one and other tackle the problem in their local area”.
Councillor Vic D’ Albert, Chair of Prestwich Local Area Partnership, said “The Local Area Partnership is committed to providing resources for local residents to improve their local environment. The police have been working hard to catch the culprits and with parental permission, some of these people will also be working to clean up the eye sore they have created”.
To get hold of a free graffiti cleaning kits pop in to The Church Inn or call Tom Gribben on 0161 798 6727.
