The next meeting of Whitefield & Unsworth Local Area Partnership takes place on
Monday 14th July, 6.30pm at Elms Community Centre and once more a number of
important issues are up for discussion.
As part of the new Morrisons in Whitefield, store bosses have commissioned
artist Steve Des Landes to design two bronze castings of historic images of
Whitefield. Steve has designed two panels depicting Besses o'th' Barn Band and
Lily Hill Steam Laundry and will present his designs at the meeting to ask for
comments and feedback.
Also on the agenda is an update on the Croft Lane Highways Scheme; a
presentation by the PCT on the brand new health centre in Whitefield town
centre and grant applications for Besses Bike Project, Elms Gardening Club and
Whitefield Park Bowling Association. The Police, Fire Service and Youth
Services will provide updates.
The meeting will also include 30 minutes of Public Question time at 7.30 where
residents can raise any issue of concern or question members of the
Partnership.
Cllr Michelle Wiseman, LAP Chair person said, "Croft Lane highway scheme is a
very important issue for both Hollins residents and businesses and the wider
area and a senior Highways manager will attend to answer any queries. The
proposed LIFT development wilI improve local health provision but we need the
views of the local community to ensure maximum benefit from this new facility.
