Chamber News - Rally on Rail

The Chamber's Director of Policy, Chris Fletcher, has been in Westminster to take part in the latest ‘Rail in the North’ meeting, alongside an all-party Parliamentary Group of MPs.

Representatives from Leeds Chamber and Network Rail were also in attendance to discuss issues around the impact of recent infrastructure investments and the effect on business.

Whilst the most recent announcement on HS2 came into the discussion, the bulk of the meeting focused on recent announcements about the electrification of key rail routes in the North West and the Transpennine route, as well as the need to get a positive decision on the Northern Hub.

Commenting on the meeting, Chris Fletcher said: "Whilst the Chamber has good connections with Greater Manchester MPs this was a great opportunity to have a valuable discussion with MPs from all parties from across the North of England and make sure they understand the views of businesses on these important issues."
