Come work with us, invites Bury Council
Date published: 05 January 2012
Bury Council is inviting local businesses to a lunchtime Meet The Buyer event on 26 January 2012 at the Fusilier Museum in the town centre.
Organised with Bury Chamber of Commerce, businesses can expect to find out more about how to bid for work with the council.
Councillor John Smith, deputy council leader and executive member for finance, will be giving a short welcome address on the day alongside Shahid Azam, Bury Chamber's chairman.
Senior managers and staff from the procurement team will be on hand to go through the processes, forthcoming projects and where to find details of current opportunities.
Cllr Smith said: “It’s no secret that we’ve got to get smarter with our buying in order to make the savings needed over the next few years, but it needn’t be a bad thing: we want any local business interested in working with us to come along because we want to make it easy for them to do business with the council. The overall objective of the event is to increase understanding of public procurement processes and provide clear signposting of opportunities in the anticipation that this will encourage local businesses to compete for, and potentially win, contracts with the council.”
