Ramsbottom welcomes a bigger and better Chocolate Festival for 2010

Date published: 22 January 2010

Following last year’s successful Chocolate Festival Ramsbottom Businesses and Bury Council have got together to make this year’s festival bigger and better.

Last year, over 10,000 attended the event and this year the festival will take place over 2 days on the 27 and 28 March in Ramsbottom Town Centre.

Plans for this years festival include, a chocolate market on Sunday 27 March, a world record attempt to see how many Ferrero Rocher can be eaten in a minute, as well as competitions all with chocolate themed prizes.

Alongside the festival, visitors to the market town of Ramsbottom can also take part in a unique Chocolate Trail, which was launched during Chocolate Week 2009. This trail allows participants to taste some of the chocolatey treats on offer throughout the year in Ramsbottom.

Event Organiser, Liz Gillan from Bury Council’s Town Centres Team, said: “There is a lot going on in the borough of Bury this year. The new Rock retail development opens in the summer and a lot of other regeneration projects in Bury town centre are due for completion. We really want to put Bury on the map this year and the Chocolate Festival in Ramsbottom is just one of the many exciting events scheduled to take.”

Paul Morris, owner of the Chocolate Café, on behalf of Ramsbottom business group, said: “We definitely captured the public’s imagination with the chocolate festival in 2009, and this year we want to build on the success to make Ramsbottom a town which is associated with good food, quality chocolate and superb shopping outlets.”
