Economic growth in the North West

The North West enjoyed some economic growth last month according to a poll of purchasing managers from the Royal Bank of Scotland.

But the bank states that the growth was 'marginal' and that it could be difficult to sustain.

The bank believes, however, that the economy is now at its best level since March last year, indicating that the worst of the recession could be over.

The North West is described as one of the UK's strongest regions, alongside the South West and London.

Prices in the economy remain weak and there has been a further decline in the job market. There has been an influx of new businesses in the North West but companies are still shedding jobs across the region.
