Daisy Pulls It Off

Summerseat Players present "Daisy Pulls It Off" by Denise Deegan.

This is an affectionate pastiche of the classic girls school story as written by the likes of Angela Brazil. Chock full of slang like “topping”, and “scrummy”, the play concerns a scholarship girl from a poor family who attends the exclusive Grangewood School. The plot involves hidden treasure, a long-lost father, a conceited prefect, and the traditional lashings of hockey matches, secret passwords and dormitory pranks.

Mike Peters (The Alarm)

Guys & Dolls

Whitefield AODS This year the production will be the classic musical Guys and Dolls - which was made into the classic 1955 film starring Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra and Jean Simmons. Includes such classic musical numbers as Luck Be A Lady, Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Adelaide's Lament and If I Were a Bell.

This classic show has been revived with a twist that keeps it as fresh and exciting as it was when it first opened on Broadway. New York in the 40s; small time gambler Nathan Detroit bets his big time pal Sky Masterson that he can’t make the next woman he sees fall in love with him. When the next doll happens to be the neighborhood missionary Sarah Brown, the stage is set for an unforgettable evening’s entertainment!

Hay Fever

Best described as a cross between high farce and a comedy of manners, the play is set in an English country house in the 1920s, and deals with the four eccentric members of the Bliss family and their outlandish behaviour when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend.

This play was inspired by Pinter's own clandestine extramarital affair with Joan Bakewell. Emma, married to Robert has had a 7-year long affair with Jerry. Robert and Jerry are best friends and business colleagues, Jerry being a literary agent and Robert a publisher. Simple enough, right? Wrong. With Pinter nothing is ever what it seems. These relationships are highly complex.

A classic old-style West End comedy involving wedding preparation chaos with the Hornett family. Emma Hornett is a domestic tyrant; domineering, house-proud & self-righteous to a fault she is definitely “in charge” of her home, her ferret fancier husband and his spinster sister. Worst of all, she is not amused at her precious daughter’s choice of orphan sailor Albert for a husband.
